Why We Built SyncReady

The story behind SyncReady — why we're building the sync licensing platform that independent artists actually need.

Dom Dixon·

The sync licensing industry has a problem. Actually, it has several — but they all come down to one thing: independent artists are locked out.

Not because their music isn't good enough. Not because supervisors don't want indie music (they increasingly do). But because the infrastructure between "great song" and "signed sync deal" is broken for anyone without a team.

The Gap We Saw

If you're a major-label artist, you have a publisher, a sync agent, a manager, and a legal team who handle everything. Your metadata is clean. Your splits are documented. Your music is in every library and database that supervisors use.

If you're an independent artist? You're on your own.

You might have incredible music — the kind of raw, authentic sound that supervisors are actively seeking out. But you're also:

  • Tracking splits in text messages and Notes apps
  • Sending music via WeTransfer links that expire
  • Missing instrumental versions of your best tracks
  • Pitching with incomplete metadata that gets you instantly passed over
  • Managing your entire catalog across scattered folders and drives

We know this because we've lived it. And we've talked to hundreds of artists in the same situation.

What We're Building

SyncReady is the platform that handles everything between "I made a great song" and "a supervisor wants to license it."

Here's what that means in practice:

Catalog Management

Upload your tracks, attach metadata, manage splits with collaborators, and keep instrumental versions alongside your masters. Everything organized, everything searchable.

Sync-Ready Score

Our scoring system analyzes your tracks for sync readiness — checking metadata completeness, split documentation, audio quality, and more. Think of it as a checklist that tells you exactly what a supervisor needs before they'll consider your music.

Pitch Pages

Create professional, shareable pitch pages for your music. Embed audio, display track details, and make it dead simple for a supervisor to hear your music and request a license — all in one link.

Engagement Analytics

Know when someone views your pitch page, listens to your tracks, and requests more information. No more sending music into the void.

Who This Is For

SyncReady is built for independent artists who:

  • Own their masters and want to keep it that way
  • Have great music but need help getting organized
  • Want to pitch to supervisors but don't know where to start
  • Are tired of leaving sync revenue on the table

We're also building tools for music educators who teach sync licensing and music business, and we're working on features for labels and music supervisors who want better ways to discover and license indie music.

What's Next

We're just getting started. Every feature we build is driven by conversations with real artists and real supervisors. If there's something you need to get your music sync-ready, we want to hear about it.

The sync licensing world is opening up to independent artists. We're here to make sure you're ready when your moment comes.
